Now for a low-down on the guilty parties...
The BLUE SESSIONS star guest DJ from the little town called Paris in the middle of Europe goes by the name of DJ Gilb'R of the famous funked-up French hip movement of an imprint called Château Flight and is the father to a miraculous child that is the Versatile Records brand releasing such legendary producers of fine art as I:Cube and taking it to another level with Versatile's subdivision Future Talk discovering such groundbreaking forms of electronic music as the Bel Air Project, Dego, Joakim Lone Octet and releasing stuff from the likes of the Cinematic Orchestra and Amon Tobin to Freedom Arkestra. Gilbert Cohen alias DJ Gilb'R and Nicolas Chaix alias I:Cube have once again teamed up as Château Flight for a bunch of elegant remixes for the likes of Pierre Henry and Air and are in for a new LP called Puzzle which will undoubtably takes even further into the unknown world of French eclecticism. Château Flight in the form of the crowd shaking DJ skills of Gilb'R promise to tear the roof off the Baltic audience.
Dixon is a DJ. A discjockey in the truest sense of the word, and a man on a mission.
He has been a weekly resident at the some of the most important nightclubs in Berlin since the mid-ninties - from E-Werk and the WMF to the Tresor club. By the end of the ninties this techno genius took it to an even more innovative scale hooking up with Jazzanova and becoming a part of their Sonar Kollektiv... Dixon's elegant versions of music by Femi Kuti, Atjazz, Jazzanova, Attica Blues, Brooks, I:Cube, Georg Levin, Taxi, Kemetic Just, Beanfield, Clara Hill, Fauna Flash, Meitz and others has been genre-penetrating and damn ambitions in their own right. Dixon is the new era of techno that we wouldn't probably call techno in the traditional sense though it really is the root of the whole thing for sure! Him representing Sonar, representing Innvervisions, representing a concentrate of all the greatness still present in Berlin is an event of true exclusivity in Tallinn and the Baltics...
To accompany Gilb'R and Dixon in Von Krahl's Blue Room is Riga's Aldee of club Essential residency fame who began his trip into the electronic party world in the mid-ninties when Latvia was in the middle of a culminating underground rave culture getting into Chicago house and the Detroit electric sound. He has been ever since constantly evolving in different genres - from big room house jocking on floors of the largest scale to taking it deeper and dubbier in cosy parties at small cafes.
As for Tallinn's own talent in the Blue Room on the night - Enar "Rakett" Essenson is set to throwdown Estonian techno style full-throttle which is not surprising if you get to know he's the man behind StereoÖÖ brand and one who already has quite a curriculum vitae playing alongside such legends as Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Darren Price and Jori Hulkkonen to name but a few.
The White Room features three acts that seem all but hip, yes, but truly they are as eclectic and colourful as you'd expect the BLUE SESSIONS to feature on a Von Krahl thorwdown...
Jaagup Jalakas is the creator of Plektrum festival started a few years ago which was one of the stepping stones of the Estonian techno scene. The jockey's interest in technology as such has lead him to add a fresh nuance to his set from time to time - he's usually accompanied on stage by a laptop computer, emitting sounds of techno, acid, tech-house and minimal over and into the audience - altogether this is a crowd-pleasing eclectic programme - Jaagup's endless quest for discovering new sounds and trying them on for size.
Bad J started his career in the city Pärnu which has played an important role in the establishment of hip hop culture in the whole of Estonia. Inspired by the music of the legends - A Tribe Called Quest, 2Pac, Gang Starr, Keith Sweat, MC Solaar, R Kelly, Michael Jackson, Maxwell, Mary J. Blige - he has been down and about both in Pärnu and Tallinn taking part in parties on his own and together with fellow scene enthusiast P.Julm of Rulers of the Deep.
Coming all the way from Riga - the capital of Latvia for a debut in Tallinn is the event of a man named Elvi Soulsystems - a disc jockey so eclectic he's built up something of an own niche for his conceptions in Riga and province of his homeland. Now having opened up his own hut together with the like-minded called META-KAFE Elvi Soulsystems focuses on taking a disco to a sort of a deeper level - pushing the boundaries of what’s considered mainstream and what’s stylish underground… Elvi Soulsystems is set to push the limits - have a mainstream crowd shaking it to an authentic sixties groove and contemporary future music and the underground crowd supposedly in-the-know opening up to rhythms they flee from on the mainstream radio and the MTV! Mashing-up, mixing in, the only postulate of an Elvi Soulsystems joint is good music - be it obscure underground or Billboard Chart headlining stuff! His appearance at Von Krahl is expected to have the pace of hip, pop, itchy techy and above all - funky stuff!
BLUE SESSIONS featuring the interactive support of BALTICDJSPACE.COM is set to have an impressive impact on the Baltic dance music scene as a unified force and a way for the neighbouring countries and their nations to invovle together in a celebration of music-culture's strongest residency in and outside the club - electronic dance music. BLUE SESSIONS will feature a set of 12 events, 4 in each of the Baltic States - Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia - with the region's best DJs plus a featuring main guest at every venue.
